Hormone Replacement Therapy · Colleyville, Texas

Hormone health, properly evaluated

Fatigue, low drive, poor sleep, and mood changes are easy to dismiss — and often hormonal. Dr. Patel evaluates and treats hormone imbalance in men and women with labs first, honest answers, and ongoing monitoring.

For men

Low testosterone (Low T)

Testosterone declines gradually with age, but when levels fall below the normal range, the effects are real and measurable. Common symptoms include:

  • Persistent fatigue and low energy
  • Low sex drive or erectile difficulty
  • Loss of muscle mass and strength
  • Increased body fat, especially belly fat
  • Brain fog and trouble concentrating
  • Low mood, irritability, or lack of motivation
  • Poor or unrefreshing sleep
  • Decreased exercise tolerance and recovery

How we evaluate it

A proper workup matters, because these symptoms have many causes — thyroid disease, sleep apnea, depression, and medication side effects can all look like Low T. We start with morning lab work: total and free testosterone, estradiol, SHBG, LH, FSH, and PSA. A low result is confirmed with a repeat draw before any treatment is considered.

Treatment and monitoring

When testosterone replacement is appropriate, treatment is individualized — typically injections or topical therapy — with scheduled follow-up labs to optimize your dose and monitor safety, including PSA and blood-count checks. And if your levels are normal and something else explains your symptoms, Dr. Patel will tell you that, and treat the actual cause — as a board-certified internist, he treats the whole patient, not just the number.

Also for men

ED and hair loss, treated like medicine

The conditions that subscription apps advertise everywhere are things an internist has always treated — with one difference: we look for the cause, not just the prescription.

Erectile dysfunction

ED is common, very treatable — and worth taking seriously, because it is often the first visible sign of something else: early cardiovascular disease, diabetes, low testosterone, or a medication side effect. Your evaluation screens for these causes and for safety (some heart medications, such as nitrates, cannot be combined with ED medication). When medication is appropriate, Dr. Patel prescribes the same generic medications the subscription services sell — sildenafil or tadalafil — at generic prices, often a fraction of what those services charge.

Hair loss

Prescription treatment for male-pattern hair loss — finasteride and minoxidil — with honest counseling on what to expect, how long results take, and the side effects worth knowing about before you start.

For women

Hormone therapy for women

Perimenopause and menopause can affect nearly every part of daily life. Symptoms we commonly evaluate and treat:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Sleep disruption and fatigue
  • Mood changes, anxiety, or irritability
  • Irregular or changing cycles
  • Vaginal dryness or discomfort
  • Low libido
  • Brain fog and memory changes
  • Weight changes despite no change in habits

An individualized, evidence-based approach

Hormone therapy is not one-size-fits-all. After a thorough history and lab evaluation, Dr. Patel reviews whether hormone therapy is right for you, which form fits your situation, and what the benefits and risks look like for your personal health history. Treatment is monitored and adjusted over time — and reviewed regularly to make sure it is still the right choice.

Common questions

What are the symptoms of low testosterone?

The most common are persistent fatigue, low sex drive, erectile difficulty, loss of muscle, increased body fat, poor sleep, low mood, and trouble concentrating. Because other conditions cause the same symptoms, lab confirmation matters before treatment.

How is Low T diagnosed?

With morning blood work — total and free testosterone along with related labs such as estradiol, SHBG, LH, FSH, and PSA — and a confirmatory repeat draw if the first result is low.

Is testosterone replacement safe?

For appropriately selected patients with confirmed low levels, TRT is a well-established treatment. It requires physician supervision and scheduled monitoring, including PSA and blood-count checks, and it is not appropriate for everyone — which is exactly what the evaluation determines.

Do you treat menopause and perimenopause symptoms?

Yes. Dr. Patel evaluates and treats hot flashes, sleep disruption, mood changes, and other symptoms, with individualized hormone therapy when it is appropriate for your health history.

Do you treat erectile dysfunction?

Yes. ED is evaluated as a medical condition — screening for cardiovascular causes, low testosterone, and medication interactions — and treated with generic sildenafil or tadalafil when appropriate, at generic prices.

Do I need insurance for hormone therapy?

No. Insured patients can use their plan for visits and labs; DPC members get evaluation and follow-up included in membership with transparent cash pricing on labs and medications.

Wondering if your hormones are the problem?

Start with an honest evaluation. If treatment is right for you, you’ll know exactly what it involves — and if it isn’t, you’ll know what actually is going on.

This page is general health information, not medical advice. Whether hormone therapy is appropriate for you can only be determined through evaluation with a physician who knows your history.
