Dr. D. Patel is a board-certified internal medicine physician with over nine years of hospital-based clinical experience.
He completed his internal medicine residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and cares for adults with everything from routine preventive needs to complex chronic conditions.
As a Virtual Care member, you see him every time, not a rotating cast of clinicians. He speaks English, Hindi and Gujarati.

What virtual care can and can’t do.
Most everyday primary care can happen by video. Some problems still need hands-on care, and we will tell you honestly when that is the case.
When an in-person exam is needed, you can see Dr. D. Patel at our Colleyville office, or we will help you find a trusted clinician near you.
Virtual care works well for:
- Common illnesses like colds, sinus infections, UTIs and rashes
- High blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and thyroid care
- Medication reviews, refills and dose adjustments

You’ll need an in-person visit for:
- Problems that need a hands-on exam, like significant abdominal pain or joint injuries
- Imaging, procedures or in-office testing
- Some medications that require an in-person visit
- Emergencies: call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room

Empathy Membership is a Direct Primary Care medical home agreement and is not insurance. It is not regulated by the Texas Department of Insurance. The membership does not provide coverage for hospitalization, emergency care, specialist care, or services not explicitly listed in your membership agreement. Members are strongly encouraged to maintain health insurance — including high-deductible plans — to cover emergency services, specialty care, and hospitalization. Please review the full Membership Agreement for complete terms and conditions.
Do I need to live near Colleyville?
No. Virtual Care members can live anywhere in Texas.
Can I get bloodwork done near me?
Yes. We send your lab order to a lab near you, and Dr. D. Patel reviews every result with you.
Can you prescribe medications by video?
Many common medications can be prescribed after a video visit. Some medications, including certain controlled substances, require an in-person visit.
What if I am traveling outside Texas?
Virtual visits are available while you are physically in Texas. If you are out of state, please seek local care for urgent problems.
Is Virtual Care health insurance?
No. Membership covers your primary care relationship with Dr. D. Patel. We recommend keeping insurance for hospital stays, specialists and emergencies.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Membership is month to month, and you can cancel anytime.
